Start of iNanoBIT – new EU-funded project on „Integration of Nano- and Biotechnology for beta-cell and islet Transplantation”
The iNanoBIT project sponsored by the H2020 programme of the European Commission went life on 1st October 2017. The project aims to apply nanotechnologies for imaging porcine pancreatic islet cellular transplants and induced pluripotent stem cell-derived beta-cells and subsequent regenerative processes in vivo in a porcine model. The project will reinforce the European healthcare supply chain for regenerative medicinal products by providing the currently missing toolbox for preclinical/clinical testing for a safe translation of regenerative medicinal cellular and tissue products, currently under preclinical and clinical trials, which is vital for the competitiveness of the European healthcare sector in this fast-growing area.
The Consortium of 5 SME (BioTalentum Ltd, Hungary; BBS Nanotechnology Ltd, Hungary; Defymed SAS, France; iThera Medical GmbH, Germany; Mediso Ltd., Hungary) and 3 Academic partners (Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium; Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany; University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy)
The grant agreement 760986, has been awarded by the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020 under topic H2020-NMBP-2016-2017 – Call for Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology and Production. The project coordinated by Hungarian SME, BioTalentum will receive €7 million over 5 years.
